Mean Time Productions
was founded to produce the feature film, THE WIND, and
is still going strong. During its run in the international
film festival circuit, THE WIND (
www.thewindmovie.com)
won two Best Picture awards and was honored with five
nominations, including Best Screenplay and Best Director.
This critically acclaimed, horror-thriller morality
tale is available everywhere as a Special Edition DVD,
released by MTI Home Video.
Mean Time Productions’ next outing was the
short film, A LOVE LETTER TO STEVE McQUEEN, which
was produced in association with the American Film
Institute. This anamorphic widescreen homage to the
iconic screen legend and American muscle cars was
the foundation for Ford Motor Company’s “McQueen”
television ad campaign. Mean Time also helmed the
short, SILENT HILL: THE UNAUTHORIZED TRAILER. This
tongue-in-cheek short, based on the wildly popular,
survival horror, video game franchise, was produced
well before the feature film version. Conceived as
a way to make the camera tests for our next feature
more fun, this effort was – sadly yet not surprisingly
– misunderstood by its intended ‘hardcore
gamer’ audience.
Mean Time Productions’ second feature, the sci-fi
dramedy, WELCOME TO EARTH (www.welcometoearthmovie.com),
stars THE WIND alumni, Zeke Rippy (“Straight
Right”), Davis Mikaels (“Joey”),
and Joanna Bonaro (“Torture Me No More”).
W2E also stars Jason Alan Smith (“The Golden
Boys,” “Faith of My Fathers,” “Big
Bad Wolf”), Kate Orsini (“Puppet Master:
The Legacy,” “Gargoyle’s Revenge”),
Thomas Edward Seymour (“The Land of College
Prophets”), Kristina Doran (“Torture Me
No More”), Jane O’Leary (“Secrets
of New York”), and Dick Boland (“Broken”).
This day-in-the-life, ensemble story of love and friendship
amidst the backdrop of alien visitation snagged several
honors and awards in its festival run, including a
prestigious Remi Award from WorldFest Houston.
Next, BROKEN (www.myspace.com/brokenthemovie),
a more than decade-long production pioneered by the
founders of Mean Time Productions and Pedestrian Productions
(www.pedxing.com),
was completed at long last. This lo-fi, dark comedy
feature about head trauma, heartbreak, and brotherly
strife stars Paul Phipps and W2E’s Dick Boland.
BROKEN the DVD is available at Amazon.com and features
the complete cut of the film, trailers, a production
design showcase, and an illuminating ‘Behind
the Scenes’ short on the history and mystery
of this expansive project, hosted by Paul Phipps and
director Jay Hollinsworth.
Mean Time Productions recently completed the feature,
BEING MICHAEL MADSEN (www.beingmichaelmadsen.com)
a.k.a. TURNING THE TABLES, starring Michael Madsen,
and featuring Virginia Madsen, Daryl Hannah, David
Carradine, Harry Dean Stanton, Paige Davis, Lacey
Chabert, and Debbie Rochon. Team Mean Time regulars,
Jason Alan Smith, Davis Mikaels, Zeke Rippy, Thomas
Edward Seymour, and Dick Boland return, and new team-members,
Kathy Searle (“Baby Mama”), Doug Tompos
(“October 22”), Fuschia Sumner (“Stardust”),
and Tara Mercurio (“Rebound”) are also
featured. This five-star ‘meta-documentary’
was honored with the Audience Award at the Faux Film
Festival and won its director, Michael Mongillo, a
Best Director Award at the Mockumentary Film Festival.
Currently, Mean Time Productions is developing the
cult-favorite comic book series, THE PHILISTINE (www.thephilistine.com),
as a live-action feature, as well as the original
action-horror romance, THE LOST GIRL.
Mean Time Productions’ primary collaborators,
the core of “Team Mean Time,” are writer/producer/director,
Michael Mongillo (www.myspace.com/themong),
producer/editor/sound designer, Taylor Warren (www.sunrisepictures.com),
writer/producer, James Charbonneau (http://imdb.com/name/nm1237381/),
and actor/producer, Jason Alan Smith (http://imdb.com/name/nm1544655/).
